Angelina Jolie wants to ‘end the fighting,’ and ask Brad to drop the lawsuit

The long-drawn-out legal battle between Hollywood’s former power couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, over their French winery Château Miraval shows no signs of slowing down. However, it appears that Jolie has had enough and is now asking Pitt to “end the fighting” and allow their family to finally heal.

The saga began in 2008 when Jolie and Pitt jointly purchased the picturesque Château Miraval estate and winery in the south of France. The couple, who were married at the time, were equal 50-50 partners in the venture until 2021, when Jolie decided to sell her share.

This is where the legal drama kicked into high gear. Pitt sued Jolie, arguing that their previous agreement stipulated that he would have the right to buy out all of her shares. However, Jolie’s lawyers allege that Pitt has “tried to punish and control Angelina by demanding a newly expanded non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to cover his personal misconduct and abuse.”

In a recent court filing, Jolie’s legal team made some shocking allegations against Pitt. They claim that Pitt’s “history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles.” The documents state that this flight “marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well” and that Jolie “immediately left him” after the incident.

The documents go on to say that “the conduct is egregious and caused significant and ongoing post-traumatic stress.” Jolie’s lawyers assert that at trial, they will “prove through testimony, emails, photographs, and other evidence why Pitt was so concerned about his own misconduct that he blew up his own deal to purchase Jolie’s interest in Miraval because she refused to agree to his new, expansive NDA.”

Pitt’s legal team, however, has vehemently denied the allegations made by Jolie’s side. In 2023, they alleged that it was actually Jolie and her team who had requested the “broader” NDA, not Pitt.

As for why Jolie did not press charges against Pitt at the time, the documents state that “Jolie never pressed charges as she believed the best course was for Pitt to accept responsibility and help the family recover from the post-traumatic stress he caused.”

Despite the ongoing legal battle, it seems that Jolie is now ready to put this chapter behind her. In a recent statement, her lawyer said that “Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing.”

However, the lawyer also made it clear that “unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.”

The legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over Château Miraval has been a long and messy one, marked by shocking allegations and a continued refusal to back down. While Jolie now seems ready to move on and heal her family, the path forward remains uncertain as long as Pitt’s lawsuit remains active. It remains to be seen whether the former spouses can put aside their differences and find a way to finally “end the fighting” for the sake of their children and their shared legacy.
