‘America’s Got Talent’ alum Perry Kurtz, 73, killed in hit-and-run, teenager arrested

The comedy world is mourning the loss of Perry Kurtz, a talented comedian and “America’s Got Talent” alum, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash on August 15th, 2023. Jaimes was apprehended after his gray Honda Civic, identified as the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, was found abandoned near the scene.

The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard, east of Corbin Avenue. According to the LAPD press release, Kurtz was walking across the street when he was struck by the Honda Civic. The impact threw him into the roadway, and the driver, failing to stop, render aid, or identify themselves, fled the scene.

Perry Kurtz was a beloved figure in the Los Angeles comedy community, known for his sharp wit and infectious humor. He had a long and successful career, appearing on numerous television shows, including “America’s Got Talent,” “The Late Show with James Corden,” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Our prayers are with his family.”
